UPDATE: 2024 SEASON We are now on our regular schedule. We are making Sorghum at Muddy Pond Sorghum Mill every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until the end of October. Best times to come is between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Muddy Pond Sorghum, LLC is a manufacturer and seller of 100% pure sorghum syrup. We also offer pure honey, and sorghum barbecue sauce, all made by the Guenther family. Our mill is located midway between Nashville and Knoxville in the hills of Tennessee. Come visit us during September and October and watch us make sorghum syrup. The sorghum mill is in operation beginning the Saturday before Labor Day, on Labor Day, and then we skip the next day, which is Tuesday. After that, we make sorghum every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday during September and October.
Our sorghum is 100% pure, with no additives and made from our own sorghum cane that we plant each year. We are longtime members of the National Sweet Sorghum Producers and Processors Association (NSSPPA). You can check out their website.

Muddy Pond Sorghum has won many awards and honors. We have won 1st or placed in the top 10 of the NSSPPA sorghum syrup contest most every year. We were named the "2012 Made in America - American Treasures Award Winner". Muddy Pond Sorghum's Mark and Sherry Guenther are Fellows in the Southern Foodways Alliance of Southern Farmers, Artisans, and Chefs. The Muddy Pond Variety Store is owned by Emma Guenther. The store is located across the road from the sorghum mill and carries bulk foods, hardware, collectible items, enamel bakeware, stainless steel, home-baked goods, and, of course Muddy Pond Sorghum. Want another way to connect with us? Mark and Sherry Guenther also make sorghum at various festivals, using horses or mules on a horse-drawn mill and boiling down the sorghum juice to sorghum syrup on-site at the festival. We have sorghum, honey, barbecue sauce, and sorghum baked goods for sale at the festivals.
